Sunnyhurst

Collaborative project with writer and playwrite.
In 1969 my parents made a momentous move both geographically and emotionally they bought a bungalow........After my father’s death my mother became increasingly emotionally and physically dependent on me........She was eventually diagnosed officially with Alzheimer’s and a ten year slow journey into the loss of nearly everything that made her who she was began. She and my father had always hated change so the house had remained in a strange 1970 time warp. She ‘nested’ in that house, feathering it which objects that took her fancy, that signified something........The above provides the context for the collaboration with the photographer and writer Martin Figura. Seven days after my mother’s death I asked him to take photographs of my mother’s house. It was the beginning of a project that attempts to search for meaning through place and object.
